Eagles after new blood

The West Coast Eagles is recruiting a new advertising agency to deliver a brand proposal and advertising campaign for the next three years.

According to West Coast Eagles marketing manager Deane Pieters, four advertising agencies have been invited to submit proposals to the football club. A decision is expected within a week.

“We felt it was necessary from our point of view to have a vision for the next three years,” Mr Pieters told WA Business News.

He said while the ‘Only a Fan Understands’ campaign had been successful over the past two years, the club was seeking a new and unique brand platform.

“We had a proposition for the past two years with ‘Only a Fan Understands’ and we thought that wasn’t unique to the West Coast Eagles; it could have been for any club or any code,” Mr Pieters said.

“We want something unique that fits with our values, which are passion, professionalism, and leadership, and some unique qualities of the club.”

Mr Pieters declined to name the agencies that will be submitting proposals, but incumbent Cooch Creative, formerly JDA Creative, has chosen not to tender for the account.

Cooch Creative has held the West Coast Eagles account for the past two years.

The work is not a major account in terms of billing dollars but provides agencies with contacts and the prestige of working with Western Australian football’s most successful club.
