Decmil wins $46m in defence work

Diversified contractor Decmil Group has won $46 million worth of contracts with the Department of Defence, with work to be carried out across multiple states including Western Australia.

In a statement today, Decmil said it would refurbish a combat range and replace a bullet escalator trap at Campbell Barracks in Swanbourne, and upgrade water supply infrastructure at the Bindoon Training Area.

Decmil will also provide asbestos remediation and maintenance work at two hangars at the Royal Australian Air Force’s facility in Bullsbrook, civil and infrastructure works at Irwin Barracks in Karrakatta, and refurbishment and remediation work at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island.

Elsewhere, Decmil has been awarded a sub-contract for the installation of stainless steel aircraft fuel lines and construction of new hot refuelling points at HMAS Albatross in New South Wales, as well as the installation of a new fuel control building and crew rooms.

“Additional work was also secured at Robertson Barracks in the Northern Territory and Wide Bay in Queensland, where Decmil was already undertaking various works,” the contractor said in a statement.

It follows news last week that Decmil had lowered its revenue guidance for the 2016 financial year as a result of several one-off costs, the closure of one of its local business divisions and delays to a project.

Decmil shares were 2.1 per cent higher to 70 cents each at 10am.
