Decmil Group has won a $35 million contract at Rio Tinto’s West Angelas iron ore project to build infrastructure related to developing the Deposit B ore body.
The contract awarded by the Robe River Iron Associates joint venture, which Rio Tinto is the majority owner and operator, is for the design and construction of non-process infrastructure.
The West Angelas brownfields expansion is costing $599 million and will increase the iron ore mine’s annual production from 29 million tonnes to 35 million tonnes.
Decmil managing director and chief executive Scott Criddle said project design would start immediately.
Decmil shares were unchanged at $2.01 at 8.21WST following the announcement.
