Decision deferred on Elizabeth Quay skyscraper

The state government has asked the developers behind a proposed 54-storey glass tower at Elizabeth Quay to provide more information before it can be approved. 

Malaysian developer Victor Goh, behind the Capital Square precinct, which includes Woodside’s headquarters, plans to build the tower, which would be just four storeys lower than Brookfield’s proposed twin towers nearby.

The developer, via AAIG, has submitted plans for the 54-storey mixed use development to state government land agency DevelopmentWA.

The proposal includes plans for about 60,000 square metres of office space, 176 serviced apartments over 17 floors, a rooftop pool, cafés and restaurants.

A development application was put forward in February this year, which was recommended for approval by the Central Perth Land Redevelopment Committee.

The proposal is 18-storeys above the current height limits for the area, but DevelopmentWA has the discretion to approve buildings above these guidelines if the community benefit is adequate.

The committee has given the developer 21 days to provide more information about the development before the board can make a decision.
