Technology company DTI Group has won a contract to supply its video surveillance systems for buses in Cape Town, South Africa, for an undisclosed sum.

DTI will provide its systems to 106 buses in Cape Town as well as a depot-based wireless infrastructure and back-end CCTV management system for six depots, which will centralise and coordinate the bus CCTV data.

It will also allow video evidence to be recovered from the buses through an online automated CCTV booking system, which will provide easy management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage.

“Each bus will be equipped with DTI’s latest mobile digital recorder with accelerometer, plus wireless infrastructure and a GPS-based vehicle location system,” DTI said in a statement.

“This contract further builds on DTI’s ongoing supply to the city of Cape Town over the past three years with the current installation base now totalling almost 400 systems.”

DTI recently won contracts to supply its video surveillance systems to new transit buses in the US and France, as well as a new fleet in Brisbane, also for undisclosed amounts.

Shares in DTI were unchanged at 34.5 cents each at 12pm.
