D'Orazio report to be tabled in parliament today

Details of a corruption investigation into former West Australian police minister John D'Orazio was to be tabled in the state's parliament today.

The Corruption and Crime Commission has cleared Mr D'Orazio of allegations that he brokered a business deal which led to a former Perth suburban mayor facing corruption charges.

But the intense scrutiny of the inquiry was the first of a series of major embarrassments that led to his resignation from cabinet on Tuesday.

Earlier this week he was forced to resign his post as Western Australian Police Minister, after being caught driving without a driver's licence.

He was initially offered other junior portfolios in Premier Alan Carpenter's government, before pressure from the public, as well as from sources within his own party, forced to completely resign from cabinet on Wednesday.
