Cube7’s rally win

PERTH-based web development company Cube7 has been appointed online media partner for this year’s Telstra Rally Australia, beating four other contenders from both WA and interstate.

Cube7 managing director Jeremy Horne said the company was excited to be part of this year’s event.

“It’s great to see that rally organisers are using a Perth developer for the site,” he said.

“It’s an Australia-wide event and it’s good to see that the organisers recognised that the relevant skills are here in Perth.”

Mr Horne said the company has big plans for redeveloping the existing Rally Australia web site and finding a balance between interactivity and usability but giving it a “unique Perth flavour”.

“The idea is to submerge spectators into the event rather than to just be an online presence, and also capture some of the excitement,” he said.

Mr Horne said the web site would be part of an overall online marketing program that would incorporate the dispersion of up-to-the-minute information during the season and provide more interactive communication between fans, competitors, media and officials.

Telstra Rally Australia spokeswoman Dianne Bortoletto said Cube7 was successful in its bid for the tender due not only to its competitive pricing, but also its additional creative input.

Cube7 had suggestions on things such as SMS Alerts that could be incorporated,” she said.

The official launch of the site will be at the end of July in time for the Rally Australia that will run from September 4 to 7.
