Crothers wins $17m school rebuild

Applecross-based Crothers Construction has been selected by the state government to rebuild Lesmurdie Primary School.
The contract is worth about $17 million and involves the construction of a new administration building and staffroom, as well as two general classroom blocks, an early childhood education centre, and a covered assembly area.
Crothers is scheduled to start construction next month. It secured the work ahead of three other contractors, according to the Tenders WA website.
The contract comes almost a year after the state government awarded the project’s design to Daglish-based Oldfield Knott Architects.
The rebuild is expected to be completed by May 2023. It was part of a $492 million commitment to modernise public schools in Western Australia.
Crothers is also completing work on a $4 million upgrade at Central Regional TAFE's Geraldton campus, which involves refurbishments to the existing visual arts building.
The upgrade was designed by local firm Eastman Poletti Sherwood Architects. It is expected to be completed in mid-2022.
