PRIVATELY-OWNED boutique property developer SC Land has released its plans for an exclusive ultra-luxury residential development on a prominent riverside Crawley block, formerly owned by the City of Perth Lord Mayor Dr Peter Nattrass and family.

The development of the site, located at 6-8 Mounts Bay Road Crawley, into luxury apartments has been a long time coming, with approval given in 1991.

SC Land bought the site from the Natrass family in the middle of last year and plans to develop a $24 million, eight-level luxury apartment building, to be called Cygne Crawley Edge.

The development is the second project SC Land has undertaken in Western Australia. Its other development, Aurora Queens Gardens apartment development on Goderich Street in East Perth, received a Master Builders Association award for best multi-unit development under $10 million.

The company has links in Singapore and Canada and is headed up by directors Lance Chu and Chenghan Tan.

Cygne will comprise 14 premium apartments, with purchase prices starting from $1.65 million.

Mr Chu, a Harvard-trained architect, said Cygne apartments had been created with a strong design intent and would meet international luxury standards and specifications.

He said the demand for ultra-luxury units was growing, with buyers becoming extremely quality conscious.

“Today, buyers are seeking a distinctive blend of beautiful architecture, with interior designs and finishes that translate into a quality and standard that will fully complement their prestige location,” Mr Chu said.

McDonald Jones Architects director Danny Jones said the apartment development was a unique project that would be a benchmark for future apartment projects in Australia.

“Lance Chu has a brilliant tenacity to pursue this excellent depth of concept and quality and that where Cygne breaks away from other apartments,” he said.

The new development will join an increasingly competitive apartment market in Perth, with a number of new apartment developments becoming available in the past year. Other nearby riverside developments being marketed include: Perth biggest luxury apartment project, Cape Bouvard’s $150 million Icon project; Finbar’s $80 million Westralian tower, as well as its soon-to-be-released 132 Terrace Road tower; and Vision Architects $16 million White Apartments luxury apartment development on Mounts Bay Road.
