Former car parts supplier Coventry Group is looking to expand its fledgling IT operation by purchasing Perth-based company Multiprogramming Pty Ltd, which trades as Multipro IT.

The acquisition will be made through Coventry's subsidiary Managed System Services, which was established in October 2011 to provide computing solutions to third parties.

The terms of the acquisition, which took effect on 1 February, were not disclosed.

Multipro IT has been operating for more than 20 years and has grown to have 26 staff, making it the 30th largest ICT consultancy in the state, according to WA Business News' Book of Lists.

It was established by general manager Mark Jackson, who will continue with the business under its new ownership.

Coventry generated revenue of $243 million last financial year from its continuing operations, which are in four business segments - fasteners, fluids, hardware and gaskets.

Its auto parts business, which originally defined the company, was sold to Automotive Holdings Group in July 2011, and now trades as Covs.
