Corporate boxes now in nib Stadium plans

The state government has tipped in an extra $7 million to include corporate facilities in the first stage of redevelopment at nib Stadium.

Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron announced today the budget for the stage one redevelopment works was now $95.1 million, up from the $88 million previously announced in December last year.

The expansion will now include 56 corporate boxes, a 250 person barbeque terrace, LED signage and a second video screen.

“It became clear during the project definition phase that providing corporate facilities into stage one of the redevelopment was of key importance to the viability of the rectangular codes,” Mr Waldron said.

“The initial proposed scope of works, while benefitting spectators and members attending nib, provided minimal revenue-generating opportunities for the sports,” he said.

"This decision highlights the value of effective stakeholder consultation in informing project definition.

“This ensures that when you go to tender, you are in the best position to deliver infrastructure that benefits the public, the sporting codes and other key stakeholders.”
