A new multi-gallery art space is set to open in the Perth CBD next month, as Cool Change Contemporary moves into the historic Bon Marche Arcade on Barrack Street.

The artist-run initiative will introduce three solo exhibitions and an artist in residence.

The space will also play host to a monthly program of exhibitions supported by regular performances, screenings, workshops and events.

Throughout August, visitors will be able to view solo shows by local artists Eric C and Paul Sutherland, Victoria’s Oliver Hull, while Laura Edmunds from the UK will be the artist in residence from August 6 to 20.

A graduate of North Metropolitan Tafe, Eric C enjoyed recent success as a recipient of a 2017 Artsource industry award.

She received a three-month studio residency with Artsource partner Paper Mountain, and Cool Change Contemporary will feature her first solo show, I’mprint.

Created through a series of prints on fabric bags, the show explores the influences of communities in sculpting individual identity, and the artist’s personal experiences in an artistic and female dominated space.

Cool Change Contemporary launches on August 6, with exhibitions continuing until August 25.
