Coles gets new finance director

Wesfarmers has announced that the current managing director of its insurance division, Rob Scott, has been appointed finance director of Coles.

Mr Scott was offered the position after an extensive internal and external search, and he will begin the Melbourne-based role in February.

Current Wesfarmers Insurance finance director Anthony Gianotti will replace Mr Scott on an acting basis until a permanent replacement is found.

Mr Scott’s new role will see him overseeing Coles’ finance, IT, and property functions, as well as focussing on growing the company’s financial services business.

Since he first joined Wesfarmers in 1993, Mr Scott has held a number of roles within the company, as well as for Deutsche Bank in Australia and Asia.

He was appointed managing director of Wesfarmers Insurance in 2007, three years after returning to the company.
