An joint venture between engineering group Clough and Dutch company BAM International has won a contract to provide its services to a $100 million marine project in the Northern Territory.

The BAM-Clough JV will provide technical support and construction input during the front-end engineering design component of the NT government’s Ship Lift and Marine Industries project in Darwin, which is being developed by Paspaley Group.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The project includes a facility for lifting vessels from the water for dry docking and maintenance works, and a common-user area available for ship repair and maintenance works.

The facility will have the capacity to lift vessels of more than 90 metres long, including the Australian Defence Force’s new offshore patrol vessel fleet.

It will also service commercial and private vessels, including from the oil and gas industry.

Paspaley was selected as preferred proponent for the project in August last year.

“The project has excellent potential to reinforce Darwin’s defence presence and services capability,” Clough chief executive Peter Bennett said.

“BAM Clough has an outstanding reputation for delivering critical marine infrastructure for both public and private sectors in Australia and brings significant local experience.

“We expect to demonstrate those capabilities on this project, delivering excellent value for this strategic investment.”
