Civmec secures east coast work

Engineering firm Civmec has won about $50 million worth of contracts for work on the east coast, following its recent acquisition of NSW-based Forgacs Engineering.

Perth-based Civmec will supply precast components to the first stage of the $8.9 billion Northwest Rail Link project in Sydney, which is being developed by the Northwest Rapid Transit consortium.

Civmec will also carry out site concrete works and precast installation on a number of stations.

The company also received two contracts from Seymour Whyte Constructions.

The first includes the delivery of bridge girders, supply of a bridge support tower and sign frames for the NSW government’s $114 million Narellan Road upgrade project, while the second contract is for the supply of fabrication, delivery and assembly of a 200-metre bridge for the government’s Nepean River shared path bridge project.

Other contract awards include manufacturing and precast concrete work for the Barangaroo Ferry Hub in Sydney for McConnell Dowell, supply of precast bridge parapet for the WestConnex M4 widening project for the Rizzani CPB joint venture, and supply of pre-stressed bridge beams on the Pacific Highway project for Pacifico, a joint venture between Acciona and Ferrovial Agroman.

“It is very exciting to secure these contracts and integral to the delivery is our new facility in Newcastle, Civmec chief executive Pat Tallon said.

“This is a clear indication that there is a demand for our services on the east coast of Australia.

“Along with offering local employment opportunities, we look forward to further developing our new facility where we are incorporating the innovations and efficiencies we developed at our WA Henderson facility.”
