Christmas trading hours announced

The State Government has unveiled this year's Christmas trading hours for general retail shops in the metropolitan area, including the Perth and Fremantle tourism precincts.

Consumer Protection Minister Sheila McHale has announced this year's Christmas trading hours.

Ms McHale approved the additional trading hours recommended by the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection following consultation with the retail industry and consumer stakeholders.

The 2007 Christmas trading hours are as follows:

  • Sunday, December 9, 2007 10am to 5pm;
  • Monday, December 10, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Wednesday, December 12, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Thursday, December 13, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Friday, December 14, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Saturday, December 15, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Sunday, December 16, 2007 10am to 5pm;
  • Monday, December 17, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Tuesday, December 18, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Wednesday, December 19, 2007 8am to 9pm;
  • Thursday, December 20, 2007 8am to 9pm;
  • Friday, December 21, 2007 8am to 9pm;
  • Saturday, December 22, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Sunday, December 23, 2007 10am to 5pm;
  • Monday, December 24, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Tuesday, December 25, 2007 Christmas Day (closed);
  • Wednesday, December 26, 2007 Boxing Day (closed);
  • Thursday, December 27, 2007 8am to 9pm;
  • Friday, December 28, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Saturday, December 29, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Sunday, December 30, 2007 Normal trading;
  • Monday, December 31, 2007 Normal trading; and
  • Tuesday, December 1, 2008 New Year's Day (closed)

The Minister said the extensions applied to general retail shops in the metropolitan area including those in the Perth and Fremantle tourism precincts.

"The extensions will not apply to general retail shops in the City of Rockingham or the localities of Two Rocks and Yanchep, where specific extended trading orders apply," she said.

"Small retail shops and special shops may continue to trade each day of the year."

Ms McHale said the extensions did not apply to motor vehicle dealers.
