Charges laid over City of Stirling rorts

A former employee of a City of Stirling contractor has been charged with three counts of corruption and one of giving false testimony by the Corruption and Crime Commission.

The CCC alleges the 54-year old Melville man submitted three false invoices to the City, totalling more than $52,000 for work that was never done.

It is alleged that the money was used to purchase a generator, steel wall and floor frames for the council's former building coordinator.

The man is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on June 22 and faces a possible seven-year jail sentence for corruption and a possible five-years jail and 1$00,000 fine for giving false testimony to the commission.

Allegations against other contractors are being examined as a result of the commission's ongoing investigation.
