Logistics and transport firm Centurion has made a foray into the oil and gas sector, acquiring BIS Industries’ Oilfield and General Transport business for an undisclosed sum.

Centurion executive general manager Mark Doig said the acquisition brought a new level of expertise to the business.

“We have been developing an in-house capability and the associated infrastructure to support companies operating in the oil and gas sector for some time,” Mr Doig said in a statement.

“The addition of the OGT business to Centurion will allow us to keep pace with the rapid growth occurring in this area.”

Under the agreement, Centurion will take on 35 skilled workers from BIS.

Centurion also said today that planning for its new logistics hub at Karratha’s Gap Ridge was “well advanced”.
