Cambridge councillor leaves post

Rod Bradley, whose outburst at a council meeting earlier this year garnered widespread media coverage, has resigned his position after close to two decades in local government.

Mr Bradley, who resigned as of Tuesday, was first elected to Town of Cambridge's coast ward in 2003 and was re-elected four times, with his current term due to have finished ahead of next year's elections.

He garnered significant attention in May after footage of him repeatedly banging a desk and turning a light on and off during a council meeting held over Zoom was published online.

His departure comes just one week after chief executive Karl Heiden's resignation, which is now reportedly being examined by the Department of Local Government Sports and Cultural Industries.

Seperately, several councillors have left Town of Cambridge in recent months, including Andres Timmermanis and Rob Fredericks.

Mr Timmermanis' departure came in February after he moved out of the local government area.

He was subsequently replaced by Georgie Randklev, who won a by-election earlier this month in which she narrowly edged out her only challenger, Basil Palassis.

Mr Fredericks left in April after having been elected to his position in October 2020.
