CIMIC Group subsidiary CPB Contractors has locked in $105 million worth of work at BHP Nickel West’s Mt Keith project in the northern Goldfields.

Perth-based CPB will undertake a structural mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation work package at the debottlenecking project north of Leinster.

The project is expected to provide additional grinding capacity to meet the processing requirements of ore with different characteristics, according to CPB.

The suite of work will generate about $105 million worth of revenue for CPB and is expected to be completed in 2024.

Mt Keith is a part of BHP’s Nickel West mine-to-market operations involving open-cut and underground mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery.

Nickel West is a leading provider of nickel to the battery metals market, according to BHP.

CPB Contractors managing director Jason Spears said the team was looking forward to delivering the project.

“We’ll be drawing on our extensive resources industry experience to ensure that the required equipment and materials are available at Mt Keith,” he said.

CIMIC Group executive chairman Juan Santamaria said they were pleased CPB had been selected to deliver a productivity enhancing project.

CPB Contractors has the experience necessary to safely and reliably deliver resources infrastructure projects right across Western Australia,” he said.

BHP also selected CPB to deliver the camp expansion project at the Mt Keith mine site.

In December, CPB was awarded a $250 million contract from Rio Tinto to deliver work at the mining giant’s Western Range iron ore mine in the Pilbara.
