CAZ wins new deal in Asia

LOCAL software developer CAZ software has won its second Hong Kong contract in six months, securing a deal to supply its school management software to the German Swiss International School.

In January this year CAZ won a contract to supply its Maze software to English Schools Foundation (ESF), a non-profit organisation and Hong Kong’s principal provider of private English education.

While refusing to disclose the value of the contract, CAZ marketing manager Gino Premici said the deals were worth more than $A1.25 million and that the company had beaten international competitors to secure the contracts. The company is in the midst of a push into Asia and Mr Premici said the Hong Kong contracts provided ideal reference sites.

The software implementation phase will begin in July 2004, across multiple campuses.

GSIS is a non-profit organisation that teaches 1,200 students from more than 30 countries. It has a teaching staff of 120 and employs 55 support staff.

Mr Premici said CAZ software was looking at opportunities in Hong Kong, Singapore and China.

“We are looking at some fantastic opportunities in that [Asian] region in International schools,” he said.

Mr Premici said the international schools were a potentially lucrative market for the Maze software as they were English speaking schools.

Because Maze incorporated financial capabilities based on Australian accounting standards, the Asian region, which has similar standards, was an ideal starting point for overseas expansion, he said.
