The state government has announced the formation of a development committee to guide three key projects in Bunbury, with Bunbury Chamber of Commerce & Industries president David Kerr and The Apprentice and Traineeship Company chief executive Stan Liaros among those selected for the committee.

The Bunbury Development Committee, reporting to Planning and Lands Minister Rita Saffioti, will coordinate the Bunbury Waterfront project, Withers central community area project and the Glen Iris redevelopment.

Mr Kerr has been the president of the BCCI since 2015; he is also the chairman of the Bunbury Marine Alliance, general manager of the Dolphin Discovery Centre and managing director of Business Management & Training Services.

The committee will be chaired by Bunbury Geographe Growth Plan technical officer Robyn Fenech.

Ms Fenech has extensive experience in tourism and regional economic development, and was previously general manager of tourism and business organisations in Western Australia and Tasmania.

Acting as a business representative on the committee, Mr Liaros has been the chief executive at ATC since 2001 and was the chairman of the South West Development Commission from 2006 to 2011.

City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan will also feature on the committee.

The government said the committee would ensure cross-government and stakeholder coordination was delivered on the projects.

"The committee will greatly benefit Bunbury and surrounding areas by aligning the efforts of government and community stakeholders to advance existing plans into development outcomes that create jobs and economic growth in the South West region,”Ms Saffioti said.

"In addition to the two community members and two local private sector representatives who will sit on the Bunbury Development Committee, we will also be seeking to form community reference groups in relation to the three key projects for Bunbury."

Geoff Klem, Sharon Cooke, Tegan Davis and John Castrilli have also been named on the committee.
