FIVE Perth building companies will build 30 new display homes at Champion Lakes, as part of stage one of a 26-hectare residential estate. Dale Alcock Homes, In Residence, Rural Building Company and Summit Homes Group will construct a lakeside display village comprising four traditional and two cottage-style homes. LandCorp plans to build four two-storey homes at the entrance to the estate, while In Residence and Daly and Shaw Building will construct two group housing lots comprising 10 units and nine two-storey terrace houses. Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the project, worth about $24 million, was expected to get under way early next year with sales planned for February 2008. “The estate will yield up to 700 dwellings including 300 single residential sites, the majority of which will be sold as house and land packages drawn from the builders’ homes in the display village,” she said. Ms MacTiernan said up to 400 units were also planned. The state government has invested more than $34 million in the Olympic-standard rowing course and associated facilities at Champion Lakes, which are managed by the Armadale Redevelopment Authority.
