Brookfield Multiplex has completed the non-processing infrastructure facility at Gina Rinehart’s Roy Hill iron ore mine in the Pilbara, marking the finish of a $270 million workbook at the project.

Last week, Business News reported that Brookfield had finalised an $83 million contract with the City of Cockburn for the construction of the Fremantle Dockers’ new headquarters.

The $70 million NPI facility comprises a heavy and light vehicle workshop, wash down facilities, a boilermaker workshop, tyre change area and lube farm, and also includes power water and waste water treatment and associated infrastructure.

It also houses administration buildings.

Brookfield WA regional managing director Chris Palandri said the completion of the NPI facility, coupled with the completed $200 million accommodation village in 2013, was a credit to the company’s engineering and infrastructure division considering the scope of works and remote location.

“The NPI facility was meticulously planned to ensure that it would be able to handle the processing and maintenance of a large fleet of up to 142 equipment vehicles, along with providing work spaces for about 250 administrative staff,” Mr Palandri said.

“The accommodation village is already home to more than 1,000 staff, and all reports from residents indicate that the standard of housing and lifestyle facilities on site, including a gymnasium, an auditorium, mess halls and a recreation centre, is among the best in the mining industry.”

Brookfield is ranked #1 on our BNiQ list of construction companies.
