Casino operator Crown has named Brookfield Multiplex as its preferred builder for the six-star, $568 million Crown Towers luxury hotel at Burswood.

Construction of the 500-room hotel will start early next year, with the development to be completed within three years.

The hotel, which will be Perth's largest once complete, will feature a resort pool, restaurants, a grand ballroom, convention facilities and VIP gaming salons.

Crown plans to roll out 500 new gaming machines and 130 new gaming tables over the next five years, subject to the approval of the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia.

Around 700 construction jobs are expected to be created for the build, while the hotel and facilities will require about 500 staff once complete.

Crown will pay $60 million for the land, under an in-principle agreement with the state government.

Brookfield's appointment to build Crown Towers follows the announcement two weeks ago that its consortium with BG&E had been selected to build a $249 million underground bus station as part of the $4 billion Perth City Link project.

Regional managing director Chris Palandri said the company’s portfolio in WA now totalled more than $3.3 billion.

“To be in pole position to deliver key elements on potentially two major, transformative inner-city projects is a great endorsement of our capacity to deliver as a third-party contractor,” Mr Palandri said in a statement.

“The Crown Towers hotel will provide much needed new rooms near the heart of the city, to assist with Perth’s shortfall of world-class accommodation for both business and leisure travellers in the city.”
