Brierty wins $19m Pilbara contracts

Civil contractor Brierty has secured two Pilbara road contracts, valued at a total of $19 million, as it appoints chief executive Stuart Crofts to the board as managing director.

Civil contractor Brierty Limited (ASX: BYL) today announced that it has secured two regional road infrastructure projects in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia with a total value of approximately $19 million.

The first project is with long standing customer Main Roads WA for construction of the Port Hedland Intersection Upgrade project.

Construction of the project began earlier this month and is expected to be completed in October 2009.

Brierty is also pleased to announce that it has secured a project with the Port Hedland Port Authority to deliver the Utah Point Access Road project in Port Hedland.

The access road will support the new $225 million Public Access Berth at Utah Point currently under construction in the Port Hedland Inner Harbour. Brierty will construct the 8.5km access road over a 25 weekperiod.

Brierty has established a strategic relationship with local indigenous group, Marapikurrinya, to deliver the Utah Point Access Road, and will employ indigenous trainees from the local area.

Brierty CEO Stuart Crofts said the recent road infrastructure project wins positioned the company well for future works in the region.

"The Port Hedland Intersection Upgrade project is one of many regional projects that Brierty has undertaken for Main Roads WA, further strengthening our long term relationship," said Mr Crofts.

"We are also very pleased to be working with Marapikurrinya and the Port Hedland Port Authority on the Utah Point Access Road and look forward to developing a strong and successful relationship in the long term."

The Pilbara contract wins come on the back of the recently announced Bellamack project in the Northern Territory.

The Board of civil contractor Brierty Limited (ASX: BYL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Crofts as Managing Director of Brierty Limited. Mr Crofts appointment is effective immediately.

Mr Crofts has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Company since November 2008 and has successfully led a number of strategic company initiatives focused on growth and sustainability, operational efficiency and organisational development.

Mr Crofts has 20 years experience in international general management positions and prior to joining Brierty Limited was Executive General Manager of United Group Resources Pty Ltd, a division of United Group Limited.
