Mining and civil construction contractor Brierty has won a $15 million deal with Atlas Iron, for works at the miner’s Abydos mine in the Pilbara.

Brierty will construct a 60 kilometre access road for the project under the deal, which was announced today.

Works will include bulk earthworks, drainage and pavement construction, and are expected to be completed by the end of June.

Brierty managing director Peter McBain said the contract took the company’s order book to $105 million for the current financial year.

"Our proven ability to deliver civil projects for our clients in the Pilbara has demonstrated the strong capability of our construction teams, which has helped underpin this new and important relationship with Atlas Iron," Mr McBain said.

"We are excited about the opportunity to be part of the growth of Atlas Iron as it expands its production capacity and look forward to developing a longer term relationship with such a key Pilbara iron ore producer that shares many of our values."

At 10:30AM, WST, Brierty shares were up 2.4 per cent, trading at 42.5 cents.
