Prominent corporate lawyer Michael Bowen and Euroz co-founder Jay Hughes have joined the board of ASX-listed gold producer Emerald Resources.

Both have been appointed non-executive directors of the company effective immediately.

Mr Bowen is a partner of national law firm Thomson Geer and a non-executive director of Raleigh Finlayson-led Genesis Minerals and Omni Bridgeway.

In 2002, he founded boutique corporate practice Hardy Bowen with fellow Perth lawyer Michael Hardy, who was also a partner at the firm.

The company was absorbed by DLA Piper in June 2015.

Mr Bowen joins the Emerald board alongside longstanding Perth stockbroker Jay Hughes, who was one of the founders of Euroz Limited and is currently an executive director of merged firm Euroz Hartleys Group.

Emerald chair Simon Lee said he was delighted to have secured two highly experienced directors to the board as it enters its second year of production at its Okvau gold mine in Cambodia.

“Both Michael and Jay’s professionalism complements the trusted and respected development credentials of the Emerald team whilst enhancing the independence of our board and sub-committees as our multi-asset gold production strategy continues to attract global institutional investors to our register,” he said.

Emerald Resources shares closed the day off 0.84 per cent to trade at $1.18.
