The Blue Room Theatre executive director Katt Osborne has called time at the helm of the independent arts organisation after three years in the role.

Ms Osborne is set to resign from Northridge-based The Blue Room Theatre at the end of July 2023 with the board to officially start advertising for her replacement in the coming weeks.

Explaining her reason for stepping down, Ms Osborne said she would be returning to her career as an independent director and performance maker.

“I have grown so much in my time leading The Blue Room and I’m so proud of the work that my team has achieved over the last three years, while navigating so much change and upheaval,” she said.

“I look forward to supporting the next leader to transition into the role, bringing their unique energy to the organisation for its exciting next chapter.”

Ms Osborne joined The Blue Room Theatre as executive director in April 2020.

The Blue Room Theatre, which has eight staff in Western Australia, was incorporated in 1989 by Perth-based theatre artists to support development opportunities for professional theatre practitioners and generate communication and networking opportunities across the sector.

Its venue comprises two intimate black box theatres, two rehearsal rooms, a kitchen, the main office and box office, a bar, and backstage facilities.
