Howard Park seems to be giving itself all the presents as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The winery’s 2004 Scotsdale Shiraz has just been awarded gold medals at two of Australia’s most prestigious wine shows, the 2006 Visy Great Australian Shiraz Challenge in Victoria and the 29th Annual Qantas Mount Barker Wine Show.

The single vineyard wine from the Frankland River area in the Great Southern is considered by many to be the best shiraz produced in this state, and one that seriously questions the dominance of eastern states shiraz.

Margaret River has recently added a new star to its food and wine constellation. The Margaret River Providore has opened to combine produce from vineyards, olive groves and organic vegetable gardens, with an emphasis on top quality take-home foods and ingredients from the region.

The project is the brain-child of Martin Black, the man behind the Margaret River Chocolate Company.
