BORDEAUX’S VINEXPO Wine Trade Conference has provided yet another opportunity for Australian wine and winemakers to prove themselves on the international stage.

The event has been held every second year since the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched the first conference in 1981. In 2003, 2,320 exhibitors from 47 countries attracted more than 47,000 wine enthusiasts, writers, buyers and marketers. Among the Australian contingent, David Combe, chairman of Simon Gilbert and former vice-president of Southcorp, will field questions on present and future efforts to consolidate international wine markets.

A new ‘virtual cellar’ is gaining ground as a top source of information for those who treasure a good drop.

www.cellartracker.com is an online wine community focused on sharing opinions and information about wine stored in private cellars.

It differs from standard cellar communities in that it is wide ranging, instantaneous and, for the mean time at least, free.
