AUSTRALIA’S seasonally adjusted trade deficit on goods deteriorated by $428 million to $6.36 billion between the December and March quarters – the largest goods deficit ever recorded. The combined deficit on goods and services was $6.27 billion, somewhat below its June 2003 peak of $6.7 billion.
The total current account deficit deteriorated by $192 million to $12.0 billion between the December and March quarters, its third-highest level on record. In March 2003, the seasonally adjusted current account deficit was $10.36 billion.
