BHP alumni Graham Tiver takes Woodside CFO gig

Former BHP group financial controller Graham Tiver has been chosen as Woodside’s new chief financial officer and executive vice president.

Mr Tiver replaces outgoing CFO Sherry Duhe, who announced in November that she would be leaving the energy giant to take up the same role with Melbourne-based Newcrest Mining in 2022.

Prior to his new Woodside Petroleum gig, Mr Tiver had worked at BHP for 12 years, spending nearly six of those years as the company’s head of group reporting.

During this time he was responsible for BHP’s global accounting and reporting function and financial improvement.

He joins Woodside weeks after the company approved a final investment decision for the $16.5 billion Scarborough gas field and Pluto Train 2 development.

As new CFO, he will help manage Woodside’s planned acquisition of his former employer’s oil and gas assets through a merger announced earlier this year.

Woodside chief executive Meg O'Neill said the CFO role was critical for the company and was delighted for him to join the executive leadership team.

“Graham’s demonstrated technical and financial capability, strong operational background and leadership skills will make an important contribution to Woodside and delivering ongoing value to shareholders,” she said.

Mr Tiver holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Finance from Edith Cowan University in Perth and is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.

He has also been a director of BHP Foundation since 2019.

He is expected to start with Woodside in early February 2022.

Woodside shares are down 0.58 per cent to trade at $22.15.
