Wesfarmers has appointed Business Council of Australia chief executive Jennifer Westacott to its board of directors.

Ms Westacott was a board director and lead partner at KPMG prior to joining BCA.

Wesfarmers chairman Bob Every said the company was extremely pleased to welcome the Melbourne-based executive to the board.

“Jennifer brings extensive and valuable policy experience in both the public and private sectors to our company,” Mr Every said in a statement.

“She has demonstrated outstanding leadership in refocusing and engaging the BCA on the major economic challenges facing Australia and brings particular knowledge and expertise in the important areas of economic policy, infrastructure, sustainability, and public sector policy and reform.

Ms Westacott said she was excited for the opportunity to see up close the challenges of a business spanning across different sectors of the Australian economy.

“I look forward to bringing to the company my privileged overview of the Australian economy and its challenges and opportunities, broad knowledge of regulation and public policy, and a real passion for growing national prosperity.”
