Awards recognise high achievers

KWINANA-BASED cyanide producer Australian Gold Reagents was awarded the premier’s award for excellence at the recent 2006 WA Industry and Export Awards. The company, which also won the large advanced manufacturer export award, supplies solution and solid sodium cyanide, used in the gold mining industry, to both the domestic and international markets. It commissioned a solid sodium cyanide production plant in 2002 to meet the international market, and export sales started in September 2002. Divex Asia Pacific Pty Ltd won the emerging exporter award. The company has supplied military and commercial diving systems and subsea-related equipment throughout the Asia Pacific region since July 2003. Divex Asia Pacific recently secured export contracts to supply deep saturation diving systems and rebreather technology. The winner of the small and micro business export award was Wild Child WA Pty Ltd, which was founded in Margaret River by Leanne Preston. Its natural health care products for children are marketed throughout Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe. Ayres Composite Panels Pty Ltd won the small to medium manufacturer export award for its lightweight panel systems. The agribusiness export award was awarded to Craig Mostyn Group, a diversified food, agribusiness and logistics company that serves customers and suppliers in more than 60 countries around the world. Australia’s largest manufacturer of wireless messaging infrastructure, CommtechWireless, was awarded the information and communications technology export award, while Rio Tinto Iron Ore won the minerals and energy export award. The services export award was won by Maddington’s Genalysis Laboratory Services, while the education export award was won by Risktec Australasia. Kimberley’s longest established adventure-cruise operator, North Star Cruises Australia, won the sports, events and tourism export award, while the regional exporter award was won by Albany Plantation Export Company Pty Ltd. Industry award recipients included NGIS Australia and its partnership with Great Southern Plantations, which won the CY O’Connor award. For the second consecutive year, Gold Corporation, operator of the Perth Mint, won the marketing and design excellence award, while QRSciences won the innovation excellence award.
