Austrade offering Singapore seminars

Tuesday, 10 June, 2003 - 22:00

AUSTRADE will be conducting a series of seminars to highlight the export advantages of the Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement.

Austrade’s Singapore-based senior trade commissioner Sean Riley will conduct the seminar with other guest speakers in Perth on June 25.

Australia’s High Commissioner to Singapore Gary Quinlan will also be a presenter.

“Australia’s services industries are the big winners in this agreement which removes many market access restrictions for sectors including financial, legal, professional, educational, environmental and other services. Despite the attractions Singapore holds, businesses must understand the market to succeed and that’s why Austrade is holding these seminars,” Mr Riley said.

Mr Quinlan said SAFTA was a big step forward in opening up Singapore’s market to Australian businesses.

"Singapore, already our seventh largest trading partner and one of the top four or five investors in Australia, is reinventing itself as a services and knowledge-based economy," he said.
