Tony Buti today announced the $15m modular building construction is underway.

Ausco Modular has been appointed as the builder for the $15 million, two-storey modular building at Shenton College.

The building's components are being manufactured by Ausco Modular workers in Kwinana, according to the state government’s announcement today.

The proposed facilities include 11 classrooms, a science classroom, staff areas, and toilet facilities.

Ausco Modular operates nationally with a head office in Queensland.

The company has branches in Western Australia, including Kalgoorlie and Karratha, and at Naval Base.

Shenton College will be able to accommodate an additional 300 high school students once the building is completed.

Premier Roger Cook said the construction of the modular building in Kwinana supported more than 100 local jobs.

"The new modular build will help to minimise any impact on student learning during construction and ease the immediate enrolment pressure at Shenton College,” he said.

"We are also putting twelve million dollars towards a similar solution for Highgate Primary School that will be built right here in WA."

Education Minister Tony Buti said modular buildings would provide the facilities for students fast.

"Modular buildings are an efficient way of accommodating for growth while minimising disruption to students and staff on the school site,” he said.

The modular building is expected to be completed by term three 2024.
