The Gorgon gas project, which is due to be completed this year, is continuing to deliver work opportunities for local contractor AusGroup.

AusGroup announced this week that its subsidiary, MAS Australasia, has been awarded a new contract by the CB&I Constructors-Kentz joint venture, which is one the major contractors on the Chevron-operated Gorgon project.

Under the new contract, MAS will be providing 1,418 tonnes of scaffolding material for the project.

This is in addition to the 6,100t provided under a contract awarded in June 2014.

This week’s news follows a contract extension worth $68.5 million, announced in December last year.

In that case, CKJV contracted MAS to provide ongoing scaffold services, including the provision of key management personnel, scaffold design and engineering and coordination assistance through the supply of labour services.

In June 2013, AusGroup said the total value of contacts it had been awarded up to that time on the Gorgon project was $110 million.

Chief executive Stuart Kenny said AusGroup was well positioned to take advantage of its association with the LNG industry in Australia.

AusGroup has also won big contacts on the Ichthys LNG project.
