PLANNING and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan has approved a further amendment to the Armadale Redevelopment Scheme, making possible the expansion of the Plaza Shopping Centre to include a Big W discount department store. Ms MacTiernan said she had carefully considered all the submissions and believed that, on balance, the change was necessary to create a strong competitive centre for Armadale. The Plaza Shopping Centre will expand from 13,000 square metres to almost 25,000sq m, adding about 10,000sq m of new retail shopping space to the centre. The $54 million expansion will complement the $75 million redevelopment of Armadale Shopping City.
