Parry and Rosenthal Architects will design a $5.3 million performing arts centre at Dianella Secondary College, while fellow Perth-based designer Carabiner secured its third state government contract for the month.

The new performing arts centre will include a large theatre space, stage, green room and foyer, and additional storage space. The existing drama room will be converted into a dance studio.

Construction is expected to start late next year, and is due to complete in late 2022.

The works are expected to create 19 jobs.

Parry and Rosenthal will also design $2.4 million worth of upgrades at Greenwood College in Kingsley.

The project includes five new science classrooms and refurbishments to the school’s cafeteria.

Meanwhile, Carabiner has been selected to design a new $2.5 million classroom block at Kingston Primary School, in Australind.

The 100-student capacity block will include four new classrooms to replace most of the transportable buildings being used at the school.

Construction is expected to begin in February, and is due to complete in January 2022.

Carabiner is also designing a $2 million teaching block at West Byford Primary School and a $2 million kindergarten and pre-primary teaching facility at Yale Primary School.

The state government has committed $492 million to upgrade 63 public schools around Western Australia over the next four years.
