Arbitrator appointed in Clough dispute

Tuesday, 11 January, 2005 - 21:00

PROFESSOR John Uff QC has been appointed as the arbitrator in the dispute between Clough Limited and the BassGas project proponents.

The first directions hearing will be held early in 2005.

Clough has applied to the Federal Court for an injunction seeking the restoration of the bond that Origin Energy, the senior partner in the BassGas project, called in and also for protection for the second bond.

In a note to the Australian Stock Exchange, Clough reported that at the first hearing into that matter, held on December 10, Origin gave an undertaking to the court that it would not call upon the second bond without first giving seven days notice to Clough.

A full hearing into the matter is scheduled for January 28.
