RSM Bird Cameron managing partner – Perth, James Komninos, has become a councillor of the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF). He joins a group that includes the CEOs of Woodside, Wesfarmers, Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Bankwest and WA Newspapers.

Majteles, Marcano to Blakiston & Crabb

Law firm Blakiston & Crabb has appointed Simon Majteles as senior associate and Kristin Marcano as a lawyer. Experienced in commercial litigation, Mr Majteles was most recently a senior associate with Lavan Legal. Ms Marcano joins Blakiston & Crabb after most recently practicing in the corporate team at Allion Legal.

CCC’s Roberts-Smith to resign

The commissioner of the Corruption and Crime Commission, Len Roberts-Smith, will retire in January 2011. The commissioner’s previous positions include Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and inaugural Judge of the Court of Appeal.

Prinsloo’s Wave Engineering role

Wave Engineering Solutions has appointed Bert Prinsloo regional manager, WA. Mr Prinsloo previously held similar positions at URS and Parsons Brinckerhoff for the past 10 years in Perth.

Maher, Crawford to Brooklyn Group

Recruitment consulting firm The Brooklyn Group has appointed Hayden Crawford as information communication and technology consultant and Niamh Maher as banking and finance consultant. Mr Crawford previously managed his own recruitment consulting firm in the UK, while Ms Maher previously worked with European banking and finance group Dexia.

Nunes MD at SNC-Lavalin

SNC-Lavalin has appointed Gavin Nunes vice-president and managing director, SNC-Lavalin Australasia in the global mining and metallurgy (M&M) division. Based in Perth, Mr Nunes assumes responsibility for its Perth, Brisbane, New Caledonia and Jakarta offices. Prior to joining SNC-Lavalin, Mr Nunes worked at Amec Minproc as general manager.

Liddell on new Quest

Ian Liddell has joined Quest People Solutions as a director. Mr Liddell will manage executive search and selection engagements with a focus on senior finance and accounting appointments. Mr Liddell was previously chief executive officer of Liddell Career Management for 12 years and most recently worked in a fundraising role with PMH Foundation.

Business council changes

The Australia Indonesia Business Council has appointed Ross Taylor as national vice-president, David Edwards as national treasurer and WA state chair, and Michael Henderson as director. Ian Satchwell will take responsibility for the ‘Economic Partnership Agreement’ on behalf of the AIBC. All four appointees are based in Perth. Sydney-based CBA senior executive Chris Barnes was elected national president.

Byles to manage at Credo Group

Workforce solutions and service provider, Credo Group, has appointed Chris Byles as national sales manager. Mr Byles was previously a director of Byles Consulting Group and Simitri Group International in both Singapore and Perth for the past five years running sales training programs for clients such as BHP, Rolls-Royce and Accenture.

Slade Marketforce exPress MD

Perth marketing communication and advertising agency Marketforce has appointed John Slade national managing director at Marketforce exPress, a division focused on press, digital and print communications through a national agency network. Mr Slade’s previous experience includes senior roles with Cato Design, Jones Lang LaSalle and most recently Adcorp.
