Van Der Wielen joins ANZ

ANZ Banking Group has appointed John Van Der Wielen managing director wealth (Australia). Mr Van Der Wielen joins ANZ from Lloyds Banking Group. He also held senior wealth management roles in Perth with HBOS and Fortis. Mr Van Der Wielen was a WA Business News 40under40 Award winner in 2002.

Manford on ASIC panel

Patersons Securities executive chairman Michael Manford has been appointed to the Australian Securities and Investment Commission’s new disciplinary panel. ASIC has created the panel to handle breaches of market integrity rules, as it prepares to assume responsibility for the supervision of trading of Australia's financial markets.

Amundsen resigns from FerrAus

Mike Amundsen has resigned as managing director of iron ore company FerrAus. Mr Amundsen will continue with the company in the position of chief executive officer for a two-month period with the intention of providing a handover to the new managing director, when appointed.

Nixon on ipernica board

Listed technology group ipernica has appointed Stuart Nixon to its board. Mr Nixon is the founder of NearMap, a photomap media company now owned by ipernica. Mr Nixon is also ipernica’s second largest shareholder. Simon Crowther has been appointed chief executive officer of NearMap. Mr Crowther’s previous roles include managing director of Canada’s largest communications agency, director of Copyright Promotions Group and head of global sales and licensing for Granada Media.

Dewar Wrays Lawyers director

Special Counsel Paul Dewar has been appointed director of Wrays Lawyers. Mr Dewar specialises in intellectual property litigation with a particular interest in patent litigation.

 

 

 

New directors at Lions

Lions Eye Institute has appointed Jason Ricketts and Ian McAllister as directors. Mr Ricketts has been a partner with national law firm Freehills since 1996. Along with Freehills, he is on the boards of Leadership WA and Lifeline WA, and is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia. Professor McAllister is director of clinical services at LEI and a consultant ophthalmologist at Royal Perth and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals.

Mounas GM of WestNet Rail

WestNet Rail has appointed Andrew Mounas as general manager, Midwest projects. Mr Mounas has 20 years’ of project management experience and was most recently group general manager, capital and procurement for Asciano.

New Supreme Court Judge

Barrister Jeremy Allanson has been appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia following the retirement of Justice Neville Owen from the Court on July 3. Mr Allanson is the current deputy president of the WA Bar Association.

Perkins promoted at DOC

Jenni Perkins has been appointed director general, Department for Communities. Ms Perkins has been promoted from her current role as director of policy and strategy within the Disability Services Commission. Acting director general Eddie Bartnik has also become the state’s first Mental Health Commissioner. Mr Bartnik has been acting director general of the Department for Communities since last September.

New role for Sharp

Timothy Sharp has been appointed deputy president of the State Administrative Tribunal and a Judge of the District Court to replace Judge Pritchard, who is now a Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Mr Sharp was previously state solicitor for Western Australia.

Disability chief reappointed

The director general of Western Australia Disability Services Commission, Ron Chalmers, has been reappointed for a five-year term. Dr Chalmers has held the position of director general since 2007.

AECOM expands Oil and Gas team

AECOM has appointed John Brewer as project manager – oil and gas. Mr Brewer’s career includes various general/project management roles at Clough Engineering, senior project manager at Aker Kvaerner and onshore project/construction manager at Roc Oil.

Key appointments at Aspen

Aspen has appointed Jeff Holloway to the role of head of commercial development following the resignation of Jonathan Timms. Mr Holloway was previously managing director of Brookfield Multiplex’s commercial development division. Simon Martin has been appointed chief financial officer. Mr Martin has held a number of senior finance related positions, both in the UK and Australia. Diniz Cardoso has been appointed company secretary. Mr Cardoso has senior and corporate roles during his fours years with Aspen.

Leedman, Gordon join Talbot

Talbot Olivier has appointed Natasha Leedman (pictured) as senior workplace relations lawyer and Melissa Gordon as lawyer within the estate planning and administration practice. Prior to joining Talbot Olivier, Ms Leedman was employed at a boutique commercial law firm.
