Sanderson takes on agent general role OUTGOING Fremantle Ports chief executive Kerry Sanderson (pictured) has been appointed as the new Western Australian representative in Europe. After 17 years at the helm of Fremantle Ports, Ms Sanderson said she would not be seeking to renew her contract past the end of October this year. She has accepted a two-year term as agent general starting in November to replace Noel Ashcroft and will be based in London. New state secretaries appointed BOTH the Liberal Party and the Australian Labor Party have announced new state secretaries for Western Australia. Former Howard government adviser Ben Morton will take up the role at the WA division of the Liberal Party and will take over from Mark Neeham who has been appointed state director of the NSW division. Current Labor WA branch assistant secretary Simon Mead will be replacing Bill Johnston as state secretary, who is vying for the seat of Cannington in the next state election.Mr Johnston was elected as the state secretary of the Labor Party in WA in May 2001. Quinlan to head up Notre Dame THE University of Notre Dame Australia has announced the resignation of Justice Neville Owen as chancellor, who will be replaced by Michael Quinlan for an 18-month term. Dr Quinlan, who has been acting in the position, has been a trustee of the university since its inception and was appointed deputy chancellor in 2006. Ajilon appoints Nunis MD NATIONAL IT services firm Ajilon has appointed Giles Nunis (pictured) as its managing director. Ajilon Australia is part of the global Ajilon Group and Mr Nunis will relocate from Perth to Melbourne to execute the company’s growth strategy in the eastern states market. Mr Nunis has worked with the firm since 2003 and succeeds Ian McFarlane, the former managing director of Ajilon Australia. Special counsel Smith Allens Arthur Robinson has appointed Gordon Smith special counsel, projects team. A construction and engineering lawyer with a range of experience in Perth and Asia, Mr Smith was previously a partner with DLA Piper in Singapore and Hong Kong, and before that with Baker & McKenzie in Singapore. Moves at RSM Bird Cameron RSM Bird has promoted David Johnston (top left) as a partner and director of business solutions, Tutu Phong (top right) as a partner and director of assurance and advisory, Helen O’Brien as principal of tax services, and Alasdair White as principal of assurance and advisory. Suncorp expansion Finance group Suncorp has appointed Jennifer Davidson as branch manager of its retail-banking branch in Armadale. Ms Davidson has 30 years’ experience in banking and finance, having held positions at Commonwealth, National Australia Bank, American Express and Westpac. New role for Clifton 2008 WA Business News Rising Stars winner, WCG Corporate Super, has appointed Katie Clifton as corporate account executive. Ms Clifton has been with the company for five years and previously managed online administration and e-commerce solutions for the group. Managing Humanconnection Perth-based global recruitment and HR strategy specialist Humanconnection has recruited Juta Manager as account manager. Mr Manager was previously at BankWest and Unisys West and before this worked as a consultant for seven years at Didata in South Africa and Australia. Patersons’ South West shift Specialist stock broking and financial services firm, Patersons Securities Limited, has expanded its South West divisions. Matt Norton, Matt Battye, Daniel Macri and Peter Willis have been appointed to its Bunbury and Busselton private clients teams. Briscoe search over Paula Hendrick (left) and Danielle McConnell have recently joined Bricoe Search and Consulting as consultants. Wood to C@ Robyn Wood has been appointed chief operating officer at C@ Limited. Dr Wood previously held viticulture and horticulture management roles for Great Southern Limited, Southcorp wines and Tyrrell’s Vineyards. MG Kailis Group GM Sonia Mackay-Coghill has been appointed general manager of Kailis Jewellery, a member of the MG Kailis Group. Prior to this, she was with Burswood Entertainment Complex for five years. Yap to Rick Hart Victoria Yap has been appointed as marketing manager for the Rick Hart Group. Ms Yap has worked for Savills Pty Ltd as marketing manager for Pheonix Shopping Centre. Steinbeck into the Limelight Tanya Steinbeck has established a boutique marketing and PR consultancy, Limelight Communications. Ms Steinbeck spent four years as project marketing manager for Stockland Residential Communities, and prior to this was business manager at the Property Council Australia. Kimberley developments The Kimberley Development Commission has made three appointments. Shire of Halls Creek President Lynette Craig has been reappointed as a local government representative and Robert Watson, a West Kimberley resident has been reappointed to the commission as a community representative. Shire of Derby President Elsia Archer has been appointed as a local government representative following the resignation of Paul White. Bishop’s Maxim move Maxim Litigation Consultants has appointed Amanda Bishop as a senior consultant of the practice. Minter Ellison team Minter Ellison has appointed Carl Black as commercial property partner, Craig Gough commercial litigation special counsel, Vincent Liu as construction, engineering and infrastructure special counsel, and Bruce Legorburu as corporate advisory special counsel. Mr Black was previously a property specialist with experience in all aspects of property law. Mr Gough appeared as counsel in the Supreme and Federal courts in the conduct of commercial matters for more than 11 years. Mr Lui is a litigator in construction and engineering disputes and has advised on proceedings in the WA, NSW, and ACT Supreme courts and in the Federal Court. Mr Legorburu has more than 10 years’ experience dealing with corporate transactions, with expertise in the technology sector.
