A Western Australian woodworking company will increase its production of fine wood furniture after being awarded a grant for more than $80,000 by the State Government.

Forestry Minister Kim Chance today congratulated Appadene Forest Products in Manjimup for successfully meeting another of its set milestones and receiving $80,000 of a $104,000 grant.

The milestones related to commissioning a new workshop and purchasing new equipment.

Mr Chance said the funding provided by the Government would help the Manjimup manufacturing facility to develop an additional workshop.

"This funding provided to Appadene will enable a larger and more efficient facility to be developed at the mill site allowing for greater efficiencies and increased fine furniture production," Mr Chance said.

"The development will also create more employment opportunities in the Manjimup Shire region.

"Appadene will receive the remainder of the grant upon successful completion of their next set of milestones."

The funding is part of the Furniture and Fine Wood Industries Program (FAFWIP) under the State Government's South-West Industry Assistance Scheme.

The now closed FAFWIP program was created to allow companies to apply for grants that would assist in the development of competitive and sustainable furniture and fine wood industries, while creating employment opportunities for the South West.

"Appadene Forest Products is a great WA company producing high quality timber products," Mr Chance said.

"Since opening its doors 10 years ago, the company has evolved from initially focusing on the milling of structural timber to expanding its operating capacity and diversity to producing timber flooring, blinds, doors, panelling and fine furniture.

"The State Government understands the importance of supporting local businesses in order to foster positive opportunities for the State's economy and is pleased to offer Appadene Forrest Products the grant."
