Amex cites Loose Box as best

THE LOOSE Box Restaurant in Mundaring has been awarded Best Restaurant in WA at the 14th annual American Express WA Restaurant Awards held recently at Rendezvous Observ-ation City Hotel.

The awards are given to the most popular restaurants in WA as nominated by American Express cardmembers and rest-aurateurs, based on food quality, service standards and ambience.

This year, more than 25,000 cardmembers and 1,500 WA restaurants were invited to contribute nominations.

Jackson’s Restaurant in Highgate won the award for the Best New Restaurant in WA.

Villa D’Este in West Perth, Altos in Subiaco, Thai Corner Restaurant in Applecross, The Red Herring in East Fremantle and Driftwood Estate Restau-rant in Yallingup each won their regional categories.

The Best Restaurant in an International Hotel was awarded to Windows Restau-rant at the Burswood Resort Hotel and the Subiaco Hotel won the award for the Best Restaurant in a Hotel or Tavern.

Fraser’s Restaurant, Perth and Flutes Cafe on Brookland Valley Vineyard, Willyabrup, were inducted into the American Express Restaurant Awards Hall of Fame for winning their individual categories for three consecutive years.

The Loose Box is now a finalist in the inaugural 1999 Ameri-can Express Best Restaurant in Australia Award to be held on 15 September.
