Alinta chooses Hansen

ALINTA Limited has hired Victoria-based information technology company Hansen Technologies to supply, implement and maintain a network management supply information system for Alinta Gas Networks.

The contract is worth $4.2 million.

The system will allow AGN to deal with full gas market retail contestability, which came into effect on May 31.

It will also provide a gateway for Alinta’s interaction with the WA Gas Contestable Market operator REMCo.

While AGN may need to deal with a range of gas retailers in the future, none of the main contenders such as AGL, TXU or Origin have rushed to gain licences that would allow them to approach WA residential gas customers.

AGN is WA’s leading natural gas distributor, delivering gas to about 60 per cent of the State’s households through a network of more than 11,000 kilometres of pipelines.
