Adshead joins Business News

Business News is pleased to announce that respected journalist Gary Adshead will join the reporting team in 2022.

Adshead, who has worked across newspapers, television and radio in a 30-year career, will produce exclusive reports for the Business News website, as well as writing a political column and contributing feature articles for our flagship fortnightly magazine.

Adshead, who has been recognised as WA Journalist of the Year four times, will also mentor young reporters as part of the company’s commitment to growing our journalists and constantly improving our content.

Under the deal, Adshead will continue to work for Nine on TV and radio, but will appear in print exclusively in Business News.

Business News chief executive Charles Kobelke said he was excited by the growth of the company’s editorial team over the past few years.

“There is no doubt that business owners, operators and managers want more news, want to be better informed about what’s happening and want to hear about breaking news as it happens so that they can make timely decisions,” he said.

“Adding another award-winning journalist to the team, especially one with Gary’s expertise, is another fantastic milestone in our growth and I’m looking forward to him adding his energy and passion to our tribe. I know he’ll have an instant impact on our team and will create even more value for our readers as we continue on our journey towards tripling the number of Business News subscribers in three years.”

Adshead said he was looking forward to working with the Business News team on a more permanent basis after having moderated Business News Politics & Policy events over the past few years.

“There has never been a more important time in WA to ensure fiercely independent, in-depth and challenging journalism prevails,” Adshead said.

“I am excited to complement my television and radio roles by writing about politics and other subjects across the Business News platforms.”
