PERTH accounting firm McKessar Tieleman has won a World Bank contract to teach Chinese small to medium-sized businesses how to become more profitable.

The project will be trialed in Sichuan Province. If it proves successful there it will be expanded to the rest of China, Indonesia, South Africa and Bangladesh.

McKessar Tieleman partner Brenton Siviour said the firm would be teaching the basic principles of business from profit improvement and cash flow management through to business planning.

“We’ll be teaching the techniques and methodologies learnt in the western world,” Mr Siviour said.

“We’ve been working on this program for the past five years. We’ve used a similar approach successfully on WA small businesses.

“It’s all about profit improvement and how a business can reach its potential.”
