Offshore engineering group AME has launched a specialist offshoot to recruit and train tradespeople for the oil and gas sector.

AME said the launch of Fusion Project Personnel was part of a larger move to diversify and expand the AME group of companies, which also includes rental equipment provider Green Monster Offshore.

AME group director Saul Wende said demand for workers in the sector had grown to the point that a specialist company to focus on specific client needs was warranted.

Mr Wende said Fusion Personnel general manager, Ian Abbott, would be based in Karratha for the time being, where the majority of clients are based.

Trades to be supplied by Fusion will include welders and boilermakers, fitters and hydraulic technicians, riggers, scaffolders, plant operators and supervisors.

“We wanted to advance our current model of supplying high quality, specialist people who are a perfect fit with the client’s requirements,” Mr Wende said.

“We are ideally placed to provide the right people for the sector, with a head office in the Perth CBD and a purpose-build training facility at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson.”
